Marietta's Assistant to lead local club soccer team into regional action

Fifth-year Marietta College Assistant Soccer Coach Stephen Rose is preparing to lead his local 17-and-under River Valley Soccer Club Rapids soccer team into the Region I Youth Soccer Championships later this week in Barboursville.

DeMark '06 named to Texas League All-Star Team

Former Marietta College pitching ace Mike DeMark '06 continues to find success at the Class AA level with the San Diego Padres Organization. DeMark, a member of the Etta Express' 2006 National Championship team, is in his second year with the San Antonio Missions and was recently named to the South roster for the Texas League All-Star Game, which will take place July 1 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.

DeMark had his streak of 26 2/3 innings without giving up an earned run snapped on June 27 but continues to put up impressive numbers with the Missions. As of June 29, he is 0-2 with 2.27 ERA. DeMark has recorded 37 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings pitched.

Andrew Bolton '02 takes fourth place US Rowing National Championship

2002 Marietta College graduate and rowing standout Andrew Bolton represented the USRowing Training Center at the 2009 US Rowing National Championship June 25-26 in West Windsor, N.J.

Bolton, who was an alternate for the US Olympic Team at the 2008 Beijing Games, finished fourth in the lightweight men’s single sculls after covering the course in 7:12.857.
